PREPARATION GUIDELINES

Prep Requirements

ANTERIOR FULL-COVERAGE CROWNS
Requires a minimum circular reduction of 0.5 mm and a minimum occlusal reduction of 0.7 mm.

POSTERIOR FULL-COVERAGE CROWNS
Requires a minimum circular reduction of 0.5 mm and a minimum occlusal reduction of 0.7 mm.

Recommended Cementation

  • Resin ionomer cement (RelyX™ or RelyX Unicem, 3M ESPE)
  • Maxcem Elite™ (Kerr)
  • Panavia™ F 2.0 (Kuraray) — ideal for short, tapered preparations
  • Glass ionomer cement (GC Fuji, GC America)

Instructions for Adjusting and Polishing

  • When adjusting BruxZir zirconia crowns and bridges, use water and air spray to cool the restorations. Avoid micro-fractures by using a fine grit diamond burr. Use the lightest touch possible when making adjustments using air only. A football shaped bur is the most effective for occlusal and lingual surfaces (on anterior teeth); a tapered bur is the ideal choice for buccal and lingual surfaces.
  • Polish BruxZir restorations with the BruxZir™ Polishing and Adjustment Kit, available through Glidewell Direct. Visit www.glidewelldirect.com or call 888-303-3975.

Prep Requirements

For BruxZir Esthetic restorations, a minimum occlusal reduction of 0.7 mm is required; 1.25 mm is ideal.

Recommended Cementation

  • Resin ionomer cement (RelyX™ or RelyX Unicem, 3M ESPE)
  • Maxcem Elite™ (Kerr)
  • Panavia™ F 2.0 (Kuraray) — ideal for short, tapered preparations
  • Glass ionomer cement (GC Fuji, GC America)

Prep Requirements

ANTERIOR FULL-COVERAGE CROWNS
Requires a circular shoulder margin with rounded inner edges or a chamfer margin at an angle of approximately 10 to 30 degrees. The width of the circular shoulder/chamfer must be at least 1 mm. Incisal reduction of at least 1.5 mm, and facial and lingual reduction of at least 1.2 mm are required.

POSTERIOR FULL-COVERAGE CROWNS
Requires a circular shoulder margin with rounded inner edges or a chamfer margin at an angle of approximately 10 to 30 degrees. The width of the circular shoulder/chamfer must be at least 1 mm. Occlusal reduction of at least 1.5 mm, and buccal and lingual reduction of at least 1.5 mm are required.

Recommended Cementation

  • Glass ionomer cement (GC Fuji, GC America)

Indications

IPS e.max is ideal for single crowns and 3-unit bridges. Veneers can also be fabricated and are recommended when combining with adjacent IPS e.max crowns or bridges, provided ample reduction is achieved.

Patient Delivery

Seat splint and evaluate fit and retention. If adjustments are necessary, adjust with carbide bur or Lisko-S disc. Polish if needed. Once seated in the patient’s mouth, check bite with marking tape to identify premature occlusion; adjust and polish as needed.

Impression, Bite Registration Guidelines

  • Start with an accurate, void-free impression of both arches. Ensure no tears or bubbles are present in impression material for precision fit.
  • Instruct patient to close into centric relation to verify midline position and bite.
  • Then, place two cotton rolls behind the cuspids and instruct patient to close; with patient in open bite, inject bite registration into the posterior openings of both quadrants.
  • In addition, inject bite registration into anterior opening to capture a complete open construction bite.

Recommended Cleaning Instructions

  • Brush and floss before using the Comfort H/S Hard Soft Bite Splint.
  • Do NOT soak the bite splint in mouthwash, denture cleaner or alcohol.
  • Do NOT place the bite splint in hot or boiling water or expose to excessive heat (such as direct sunlight). This may distort the appliance.
  • After use, rinse the bite splint with water and store dry.
  • Clean the bite splint with soap and warm water ONLY.
