Abutment and Crown

Consists of a pre-milled abutment blank that is custom-shaped to develop the implant emergence profile, along with a separately milled crown base in the material of choice. These components are shipped as two separate products. Final cementation of the crown to the abutment is completed chairside by the dentist.

Information
Stock Abutment (Prefabricated Abutment)
A pre-manufactured abutment provided by the implant manufacturer. It comes in standard shapes, angulations, and collar heights and is adjusted chairside if needed.
Titanium Custom Abutment
A custom abutment milled from medical-grade titanium for high strength and biocompatibility. Commonly used for posterior or high-load restorations.
Cast (Casted) Abutment / UCLA Abutment
A castable abutment that allows the technician to wax and cast the abutment in metal, typically used when custom angulation or design is required.
Zirconia Custom Abutment
A custom abutment made from zirconia, often used in esthetic zones because of its tooth-colored appearance.

Supplemental Information

Indication
  • Multiple implants requiring correction to achieve a proper path of insertion
  • Cases where a stock abutment is not appropriate
  • Situations requiring a customized emergence profile and margin placement
Contraindications
  • Implant angulation greater than 20°
  • Insufficient restorative space for proper abutment design
Clinical Advantages
  • Custom abutment design improves implant parallelism and path of insertion for crowns or bridges
  • Allows precise control of margin placement and emergence profile
Material Composition
Zirconia Hybrid Custom Abutment (IZCAH): CAD/CAM zirconia abutment bonded to a medical-grade titanium Grade 23 base (Ti-6Al-4V ELI) for strength and implant connection.Titanium Custom Abutment (ITCA): CAD/CAM milled from medical-grade titanium Grade 23 (Ti-6Al-4V ELI) for maximum strength and biocompatibility.
Gold-Tone Ti-Base Option
Inclusive® titanium custom abutments can be anodized to a gold tone to reduce gray titanium show-through and improve esthetics in thin tissue or anterior cases. Available for Inclusive implant systems only.
Space Requirement
  • Zirconia Hybrid Custom Abutment (IZCAH)
  • 7 mm minimum inter-occlusal space (soft tissue to opposing)
  • 2 mm minimum interproximal clearance (implant platform to adjacent teeth)
  • Implant placement approximately 2 mm subgingival (facial and lingual)Titanium Custom Abutment (ITCA)
  • 5 mm minimum inter-occlusal space (soft tissue to opposing)
  • 1.5 mm minimum interproximal clearance (implant to adjacent teeth)
  • Minimum 3 mm abutment height above tissue for crown retention
Angulation Requirements
  • Zirconia Hybrid Custom Abutment (IZCAH)
  • Up to 10° angulation correctionTitanium Custom Abutment (ITCA)
  • Up to 20° angulation correction
  • If angulation exceeds 20° facial or lingual, a Gold Custom Abutment (GCA) may be recommended
Implant Access Hole
An implant access hole can be incorporated, allowing the restoration to function as a screw-mentable design when clinically indicated.
Stock Abutment Adjustment
When doctors send a stock abutment or request the lab to order one, modifications to the margins and occlusal space is required. This Adjusted Implant Abutment (AIA) service fee is $80 and is added to the implant restoration price.
What to Send
  • PVS impression with implant transfer coping
  • Digital scan with correct and verified scan body
  • Bite registration
  • Completed laboratory prescription with Implant System and size information (Rx)
  • Shade selection
